Erin J. Aiello Bowles, MPH
Research Associate

Research Interests:
Ms. Aiello Bowles is an epidemiologist whose main research interests include breast cancer and women's health. The majority of her work focuses on understanding the relation between mammographic breast density and breast cancer risk. She plays an active role in several large consortia including the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium and the HMO Cancer Research Network. Within these consortia, her research has included: evaluating the relation between family history of breast cancer, phase of the menstrual cycle, and breast cancer tumor characteristics with mammographic breast density; studying the characteristics of radiologists associated with mammographic accuracy; examining the diffusion of new cancer treatment modalities and technologies in integrated health systems; and evaluating the barriers and facilitators to high quality cancer care. Her secondary research interests include blood-related cancers and their precursors such as multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome.
